Turkey Burgers With Smoked Applewood Cheese and Cajun sweet potatoes

Ingredients:

  • Turkey Mince
  • Finley Chopped Red Onions
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Paprika powder
  • English mustard
  • Breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg yolk

Dressing for the bun:

  • Crispy Romain lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Applewood smoked cheddar
  • Caramelised onion chutney
  • Large Bread roll

Method:

In a big mixing bowl add the mince, red onions, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, english mustard and breadcrumbs. Mix until all dry ingredients are combined. Then add the Egg yolk and mix again with your hands. Cover and let the mince mixture rest for 30 mins – 1 hour. (The longer the better)

Once rested, create burger patties and lightly grease a baking tray, allow the burgers to brown nicely, whilst turning them over once each sides cooks. (20 mins or so/ 12-13 mins on each side)   ( you can also shallow fry the patties which maybe quicker but I personally prefer the oven) just before you take the patties out, take the applewood smoked cheddar and cut a few slices and place on the patties. Put it back in the over for a few mins to get the cheese bubbling.

Now the hard part is over, decorate your burger! I put the bread rolls on the oven to get that nice crispy toasted effect.  Before you put the lettuce in I put a spread of the caramelised onion chutney then lettuce and tomatoes. The top bun I spread a very slight layer of english mustard to give it a nice a kick. On top the tomatoes place your turkey patty and close that bad boy with that mustard bun! Its truly smells amazing ( mainly because of the Applewood Smoked Cheddar Cheese)

Hope you enjoy! xx
